Inserting and Formatting Tables

OnStyle provides tools for creating tables with proper titles and applying table-related styles. These features ensure tables follow the formatting rules defined in the active DocConfig. Available in both Essential and Professional editions from version 3.4.

  1. Open / Create a document and on the OnStyle Ribbon > Configuration menu group assign a DocConfig
  2. Place the cursor where you want to insert the table.
  3. On the OnStyle Ribbon, go to the Tools > Tables group.
  4. Click Create Table.
  5. In the dialog, specify the number of columns, rows, and header rows.
  6. Select the Table set name. The available sets come from the active DocConfig and define the table’s formatting, including borders etc.
  7. (Optional) Choose a Special variation, if defined in the DocConfig. Special tables apply additional formatting rules, such as the header row, the first column, or the table body styles .
  8. Select the Table Title Style to control the appearance of the caption above the table.
  9. Enter the Table Title text. OnStyle inserts and numbers the title automatically, using the selected style.
  10. (Optional) Add Footer parts if the table requires them. Depending on the DocConfig, a footer can be defined as a merged row at the bottom of the table or as a dedicated note paragraph placed directly below the table . The footer uses the style defined in the DocConfig.
  11. Click Insert.
  12. OnStyle inserts a table formatted according to the DocConfig, including header, footer, and cell styles.
  1. Place the cursor above the table.

  2. On the OnStyle Ribbon, go to the Tools > Tables group.

  3. In the Label Text field, type the descriptive part of the title (for example, “Study Results”). OnStyle inserts the text after the table number (for example, “Table 1 Study Results”). This function can also be applied to existing text. In that case, the selected text is converted into a table title and formatted according to the assigned DocConfig.

  4. In the Label Style field, select the style that controls the formatting of the label.

  5. Click Insert Table Title.

  6. OnStyle inserts a properly numbered table title in the style defined by the DocConfig (for example, “Table 1: Title”).

The following predefined styles are available in the Tables group:

  • Table Footer – applies footer text styling for notes or references below a table.
  • Table Cell Styles – apply consistent formatting to table content as defined in the DocConfig.
